Residents or family members can record a special message for their loved one on a recording device that is then stitched into a bear by our volunteers. There is also a hand-stitched backpack for the bear into which notes or mementos can be placed.
Residents and families can create a special family tree made up of the fingerprints of each family member. When complete, the final print is framed for the families to take home.
A wonderful poem about love adorns this memento. If it’s difficult to verbally express your love for another, this project provides an alternate – and meaningful – way to communicate love.
This art project provides a beautifully sculptured replica of a resident’s hands – either on their own, or holding a loved one’s hands.
A recording of a resident’s heartbeat is taken with a special stethoscope, and our Music Therapist matches the recording with a meaningful song to create a beautiful memento – click here for a Heartsong sample. The recorded heartbeat can also be stitched into a stuffed bear.
This simple service allows families and friends to leave voice messages for their loved one. The messages can be managed online, and accessed by a care provider from the private phone in the resident’s room.
For more Art from the Heart projects, please see the display cases in the main lobby of each of our Houses, or connect with our staff for more information.
