Please be aware that at this time the majority of our volunteer programs and volunteer training programs have been suspended due to COVID-19. For further information, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator. Applications are still welcomed.
We are thankful for the over 200 volunteers who support us regularly at Lisaard and Innisfree Hospice. They come with a ready smile and an attitude of service and gratitude. A typical volunteer shift is approximately three hours.
We are supported by two types of Volunteers:
Volunteers who provide practical operational support to Lisaard and Innisfree Hospice. Most of these volunteers are required to complete a classroom training course 10 hours in length before starting in their role. Positions include, but are not limited to:
- Kitchen (meal prep, kitchen helper, or baking)
Volunteers who directly support residents and their families during their final days. All direct-service volunteers must complete a combination of classroom and online training up to 35 hours in length before starting in their role. Positions include:
- Resident Care (assisting with feeding and repositioning, reading, writing, talking, assisting with our Art from the Heart Legacy Program, vigiling, or simply providing a supportive and comforting presence)
- Complimentary therapies (including Reiki, TT, and massage, by a qualified practitioner)
- Nail care
All volunteers play a valuable role at both hospices. Their support is vital and integral to the ongoing operation of the hospice and is greatly appreciated. For more information please contact us at 519-208-5055 ext. 258 or click here to email.
Police screening and record of immunizations may be required for volunteer applicants. All volunteers must complete some training requirements annually.
